Eric in case you didn't know...

I wrote this poem about a very special person that I'm honored to say I had the opportunity to share my love, my hopes, desires and journeys with not to long ago. Although our lives took different directions, he has taught me a lot about life, love, happiness and myself. I wanted to share a few of those things with all of you because I feel I am a better person because of him and he will live on in me as I am still learning to walk and not to run. So here is just a peek and the rest I shall keep private and close to my heart.

"Eric, Your Gift to Me"

I remember the first time I came to talk to you about a crisis I was having
And as I stood there with tears falling from my eyes and could hardly speak
You held out your hand and told me it was okay to take your hand
And I took your hand and you embraced me in your arms
And you cried with me until the tears went away.

I remember the first time I looked into your eyes and you motioned me to look closer
And as I accepted your invite I was mesmerized by what I saw
You asked me what I saw and as I spoke time stood still and I felt your hand upon my cheek
What do you see you asked again and I said I see a candle with a burning flame
And you said that is my soul bright and you have shined it for me.

I remember our first kiss it was soft and gentle like a warm summer breeze
Slowly pulling my hair from my face you pressed your lips to mine
And as I surrendered I was powerless and I melted to your form
Our kiss lasted but a moment and as my heart grew bigger
In that moments kiss we both fell in love.

I will remember you and cherish all the things we have done together
I will remember our walks, our talks and our silly ole sayings
I will remember your smile and how you’d make me laugh
I will remember your kindness and helping hand
I will remember your ambitions and strife
Your trials and tribulations

I will remember your selflessness and giving to the less fortunate
I will remember your courage and your fight for fairness
I will remember the lessons you have taught me
And I will bring them along in my life
In hopes that maybe someday
You’ll look down upon me from heaven and realize
You have made me strong
Shined my soul bright
And shown me how to love myself and accept the love of another.

I love you still
And I will always remember, remembering you…
May you rest in peace my Dearest Eric
